About

Who We Are:
Dr. Sybil Kramer, Endocrinologist, and her daughter Tova Kramer Searleman are providing this resource for people with diabetes.  Dr. Kramer is a board-certified endocrinologist with 31 years of experience.  She has worked with thousands of patients with diabetes and is passionate about providing education to help them control their disease as well as to enhance their life style. Many people have trouble implementing the information received by physicians and diabetic educators. We provide practical supplementary information to help enable patients to make the recommended changes in lifestyle.

Tova is a Floor-Time Play Therapy/ABA Provider who specializes in young children with autism spectrum disorders.  She also has a passion for cooking and teaching people how to prepare healthy and delicious meals in order to enhance their health as well as their quality of life.

What We Do:
Dr. Kramer’s blog posts provide valuable information about diabetes which should enable people with diabetes to understand their disease as well as its treatment. These posts contain information about the physiology of diabetes, news about diabetes converted to non-scientific language, nutritional information including a guide to reading nutrition labels, and other information about diabetes.

Tova’s videos all offer step-by-step demonstrations in which she prepares delicious meals that are appropriate for people with diabetes and all the members of their family. She also provides nutritional information for these meals.

Why We Do It:
While some of Dr. Kramer’s patients have been able to go home and make the recommended changes without additional support, others were not able to implement what they learned from the doctor or the nurse educator to improve their control and lower their risk of cardiovascular disease. While trying to do their best, many patients have imposed severe and unnecessary restrictions on themselves to the point where they do not enjoy meal time any more. Many patients have said to Dr. Kramer, “I wish I could take you home to show me how to shop and cook!”  They will now have a 24 hour resource available in which Dr. Kramer and her daughter will be available to teach them the skills they need to implement their doctor’s instructions as well as to help them enjoy their meals.

Tova loves to teach people ways to improve their health as well as the quality of life so that they can more easily engage in activities that fulfill their passions.

Thank you for visiting our website. Feel free to use all the information on the site and share it with your health provider as well. Try not to be overwhelmed by the all the information available. I would suggest looking at the diabetes overview as well as the article on nutrition labels on ezine. If you visit the post on fruit and the one on vegetables, and print out the available tables, you will then have a good idea how many carbs are in your food. You may also want to check out the E book which describes people who have had successful lives in the face of Diabetes. Let us know how yours turned out and how we may better serve you. Thank you so much.

I have recently been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I havent seen an educator or dietician yet and have scant information from my dr, so for a month I have been trying to figure this out on my own. Today I was in tears becuse I am confused about the carb/sugar issue and what I can pr cant eat and what amounts I am allowed or not. So I have been basically not eating. I see the dietician in a week so I will get some answers soon, but I found Tovas recipe for Tandoori Chicken and it was like going to Heaven. Food with Flavor and Substance again. Thank You for such a grat site and great info. This will be on my faves forever!!

Glad to hear you will start having breakfast. If you have enough protein and nutrients you will have more energy and start feeling yourself getting stronger. When your body gets everything it needs in an appropriate number of calories, you will start converting fat into muscle and be happier and healthier. Thanks for vising our website. Sybil
