Diabetes News: Sleep Deficits in Teens Increase the Risk of Diabetes type 2

Is your teenager getting enough sleep?  Most experts recommend that teenagers get about 9 hours sleep per night.  In a study done at the University of Pittsburgh, the average teenager had 6.4 hours of sleep.  An additional hour of sleep, improved insulin resistance on average by about 9 percent.  It  is believed that insulin resistance leads to the development of Diabetes Type 2.
