Diabetes News: Risk Factors for Type 2 Diabetes

Do you believe that only people who are overweight are susceptible to type 2 Diabetes?  A study reported in medscape clinical briefs describes three risk factors which may independently  increase the risk for developing type 2 Diabetes.  People with Insulin Resistance almost quadrupled their risk of developing Diabetes Type 2 whereas people with either obesity for fatty liver increased their chance of developing diabetes by a factor of 2.5.  A cluster of all three risk factors increased the odds of developing Diabetes Type 2 by a factor of 14.  This study shows the impact of genetic and environmental factors in increasing the risk of developing Diabetes type 2.
