After watching the video of Paula Deen preparing symphony brownies, I realized the irony of her not being able eat the foods she so lovingly prepared. Coping with Diabetes is hard enough, but it must be doubly hard when you have to cope in public and it brings into question your career and the things you love the most. Many people believe eating recipes such as the ones on her program causes diabetes. Does obesity cause diabetes type 2? We know diabetes type 2 is caused by insulin resistance which can be exacerbated by weight gain. Weight gain by itself does not affect our genetic endowment.
